about

Pavilion is a compilation album by eight contemporary Lithuanian artists, working in diverse media and practises, including sound and listening. The compilation features carefully selected excerpts of sound art pieces and field recordings for audio-visual art installations, experimental compositions, soundscapes, and sonic phantoms of acousmatic music. Made up of recordings of sound from particular environments or situations, the compilation is an exercise in active listening. The things we hear are as important as the ‘how’, the ‘when’, and the ‘where’ of their utterances. The works presented here function in different ways, but all demand extensive listening, and delve deep into notions of place, space, atmosphere, sonic object and other sound-sources.
